Virgin, TV3, RTE secure UEFA football match rights in Ireland

Wednesday 16 May 2018 | 11:08 CET | News

Virgin Media Ireland and subsidiary TV3 have secured the rights to all UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches for the next three years, with live rights to more than 300 European matches per season. The deal comes into effect in August for the start of the 2018/2019 season.

They have secured exclusive Irish rights to broadcast all Wednesday UEFA Champions League matches, all Thursday Europa League matches and the finals of both competitions. In total, they will have exclusive rights to 327 games across both competitions per season, and share rights for 16 Tuesday Champions League games.

Meanwhile, Irish public service broadcaster RTE said that it won the rights for first choice Tuesday Champions League matches for the next three years, starting from the 2018/2019 season.
