Visa partners with Kenyan banks to launch mVisa

Thursday 15 September 2016 | 08:37 CET | News
Visa has partnered with Kenyan banks to introduce mVisa, a new mobile payment service that will accelerate digital commerce in Kenya and across Africa. As part of its initial roll-out of the service to Kenyan consumers and merchants, Visa has partnered with the Co-Operative Bank, Family Bank, KCB and NIC Bank. The mVisa service was first launched last year in India, where it has so far signed up several banks and around 30,000 merchants. Visa now plans to expand throughout Africa, with Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Nigeria likely to join Kenya by the end of the year.
