Vivo to offer femtocells in 2013

The use of femtocells may start in Brazil in 2013 if a set of regulations is approved by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), reports local daily Folha de Sao Paulo. The rules are currently under public consultation. Operator Vivo, which launched a pilot with 100 femtocells in Sao Paulo in 2012, said it is ready to offer the service to its customers in 2013. According to Leonardo Capdeville, director of planning and technology, Vivo plans to make available the equipment at no cost to users, and the operator may also offer the feature as an additional service to users who wish to
