VMware to boost AI on-premises, hybrid cloud expertise with acquisition of Bitfusion

VMware said it intends to boost its AI on-premises and hybrid cloud expertise with the acquisition of Bitfusion, a software company focused on AI and machine learning, with all of its personnel. The company is also specialised in hardware acceleration for applications in the form of GPUs (graphics processor units), FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays), and ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits).
