VNPT incurs huge losses through falling fixed line demand

Wednesday 16 January 2013 | 09:54 CET | News
Vietnamese telecommunication services provider VNPT said it has incurred large losses because of the decreasing demand for its fixed line telephone services, reports The Viet Nam News. The state-owned company said its number of fixed line telephone subscribers has declined from 13 million to 5 million because of the increasing popularity of mobile phones. Vu Tien Duong, deputy head of VNPT's business department, said that each year, VNPT has lost about 25 percent of its fixed line subscribers and most of the customers use the service as a back-up connection.
