VNPT to withdraw pay-phone services from March

Vietnamese state-owned telecommunications company VNPT Group will decommission all pay phones nationwide from 25 March due to a slump in demand, reports Vietnam News. Demand for the service has gradually decreased with the growing use of mobile phone services. The company is considering using the pay phone sites as Wi-Fi hotspots. VNPT late last month said it incurred losses due to the decreasing demand of its fixed-line telephone services. The company said the number of its fixed line telephone subscribers has falle from 13 million to 5 million, again due to the increasing use of mobile
