Vodacom South Africa revenue down 3.1% to ZAR 16 bln

Vodacom South Africa reported a 3.1 percent decrease in revenue for the third quarter ended 31 December to ZAR 15.99 billion. The 8.9 percent growth in equipment revenue from increased handset sales was offset by a 5.8 percent decline in service revenue. ARPU increased 2.7 percent from a year earlier to ZAR 188, but was down 1.1 percent from the previous quarter on economic pressures. Data revenue grew 18.8 percent to ZAR 3.526 billion, to make up 29.7 percent (Q3 2014: 23.6%) of service revenue. Vodacom's total customer base fell to 31.379 million at the end of December from 32.613 million
