Vodafone brings brings Open Sure Signal to Peak District

Friday 4 March 2016 | 09:51 CET | News
Vodafone UK has deployed its Rural Open Sure Signal (ROSS) femtocell-based 3G access system in Bradfield, the first community in Yorkshire to benefit from the platform designed to cover places around the country with unreliable or no mobile service. The village is set in North Yorkshire section of the Peak District National Park of South Yorkshire. Bradfield's ROSS units are currently handling 80 calls and 6,000 data sessions a day, on average. Vodafone is now operating the system in over 40 of the up to 100 rural communities it aims to serve the UK. The programme was announced in July 2014.
