Vodafone CEO: LTE at 500 Mbps to be available in 2016

Monday 7 December 2015 | 14:51 CET | News
Vodafone Germany CEO Hannes Ametsreiter announced the launch of LTE at 500 Mbps for next year, Bild.de reports. Real 5G will only become available around 2020 because the 5G standard has not been defined yet, but the first field tests for the 4.5G prototype will take place in mid-2016. The first sites with 1.2 Gbps are due to operate in 2017. Next year, Vodafone plans to introduce 500 Mbps in selected places, then 750 Mbps.
