Vodafone Germany connects beach chairs in Treichel with Wi-Fi service

Thursday 30 July 2020 | 15:53 CET | News

Vodafone Germany said it has brought Wi-Fi connections to a beach in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. At the Treichel beach, a total of ten Wi-Fi connections are available for the beach chairs. Visitors can use the beach chairs with a personal Wi-Fi hotspot by adding EUR 5 per day more on the normal price for a chair. Families can access the network at up to 200 Mbps via a WLAN stick that connects over the LTE network.

The Wi-Fi for beach chairs complements the network infrastructure that Vodafone provides for its customers in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. More than 99 percent of households in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are covered by the LTE mobile network. In addition, Vodafone has started the 5G expansion with 24 5G antennas at eight locations that are already live. It will continue to expand the 5G network in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at 90 locations over the next twelve months. In addition, 75 further LTE construction projects are planned to close the remaining LTE white spots.
