Vodafone Italia, F2i sign Metroweb non-disclosure agreement

Vodafone Italia has signed a non-disclosure agreement with infrastructure fund F2i over the possibility of buying a stake in broadband provider Metroweb. The government is keen to use the Milan-based fibre-optic company as the vehicle for implementing its ambitious broadband strategy, but talks with Vodafone, Wind and Telecom Italia have stalled over the ownership structure. Metroweb is 87 percent controlled by the holding company Metroweb Italia, around 54 percent of which is in the hands of F2i, with state-backed holding company Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) owning 44 percent and Italian
