Vodafone Italia is set to launch its first commercial fibre-optic offers using the Open Fiber wholesale network in the cities of Prato in Tuscany and Matera in Basilicata next week, reports Mondo Mobile Web. Customers in the two cities will be able to access Vodafone's offering via a genuine fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure that supports speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The operator's NGN footprint increased to 5.5 million households at the end of Q2 due above all to its partnership with Open Fiber, a figure that's set to rise to 9.5 million by 2022.
