Vodafone reaches deal with unions over redundancy plan

Vodafone Spain has reached a deal with the trade unions UGT and STC over its proposed collective dismissal of around 1,300 workers as a result of the merger with Ono. In the end, the redundancy plan will affect 1,059 workers, who will be compensated with 45 days' pay per year worked until February 2012, and 33 days per year thereafter. Employees have 20 days to apply for voluntary redundancy, said Vodafone in a statement, adding that there will be no compulsory redundancies prior to 01 January 2016.
