Vodafone says Bavaria will be 'first gigabyte state'

Friday 20 January 2017 | 10:38 CET | News
By 2019, around 70 percent of the inhabitants of Bavaria will have access to glass fibre connections at 1 Gbps, Vodafone Germany has announced. Vodafone CEO Hannes Ametsreiter made this commitment to Bavaria's minister president Horst Seehofer, predicting that Bavaria would be "the first gigabyte state" in Germany. He praised the regional authorities for investing in digitisation, urging other states to follow Bavaria's example.
