Vodafone targets 300,000 M-Pesa users in 1st yr in Romania

Vodafone Romania estimates its recently launched M-Pesa m-payment service will reach approximately 300,000 end-users in the first year of activity. Vodafone Romania m-payments head Cristian Motca said the forecast refers to active users, namely customers who make at least one transaction every three months, writes local publication Wall-Street.ro. Motca added that he expects approximately 60-70 percent of the transactions made through M-Pesa to be money transfers. This should be followed by bill payments, top-ups and payments to merchants. Romania is the first European country where M-Pesa
