Vodafone UK marks 30-year anniversary in Covent Garden

Vodafone UK is marking the 30 year anniversary of the first mobile call on its network with an event in London's Covent Garden between 16-18 January. The operator will open a little group of temporary shops on "1984G Street" in an effort to take passers-by back to the mid-80s, with contests and prizes to be won. The venue was opened by David Hasselhoff in his talking car Kitt. It includes a mock-up of the first Vodafone store, featuring the 11 pound Transportable Vodafone VT1 handset, as well as the latest handsets.
