Voice-enabled smart devices to hit 275 mln by 2023

Monday 25 June 2018 | 13:59 CET | News
Adoption of voice-powered smart devices is set to surge by some 1,000 percent from 25 million in 2018 to 275 million by 2023, according to a report from Juniper Research. The study predicts that Amazon will continue to dominate the sector due to a loss-leading strategy that ties hardware products to a comprehensive product and service ecosystem. Google will remain a distant second in the space, with the latter's Nest brand incurring a USD 621 million loss in 2017, while the introduction of monetised Alexa skills will encourage smaller vendors to take an 'Amazon-first' approach.
