Volkswagen, Microsoft extend Automotive Cloud agreement to China, the US

Volkswagen and Microsoft have extended their automotive cloud agreement to China and the US, in addition to Europe. The original deal was announced last year, with Volkswagen saying it would connect over 5 million new brand vehicles to the cloud from 2020. The services would be built on Microsoft's cloud platform and services, as well as the Azure IoT Edge. The ID. will be the first vehicle to use the Automotive Cloud; it is to launch in Europe, in 2020. Production will start in China the same year and a member of the ID. family in the US from 2022.
