Vonage raises FY outlook after buying TokBox

VoIP provider Vonage revenues grew 3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter to USD 260 million but Vonage Business revenues leaped 24 percent to USD 148 million, driven by strong performance in CPaaS and the continued adoption of Vonage Business Cloud. CEO Alan Masarek said Vonage is still in the process of transforming into a communications software company. In line with this strategy, the CEO also announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based TokBox for USD 35 million, specialised in programmable video APIs. Vonage explained that it wants to expand beyond voice, SMS and IP messaging
