Waspa receives 60 spam text complaints in 2015

South Africa's Wireless Application Service Providers Association (Waspa) said it received 60 complaints from consumers who were sent unsolicited marketing messages in 2015, ITWeb reported. It said that 43 complaints were upheld, which resulted in sanctions such as fines being issued. Thirty-nine of the companies found to be in breach of Waspa's code of conduct were fined from ZAR 2,500 to ZAR 300,000, with some facing suspension of their membership.
