Waterstones in exclusive talks to buy Tesco's Blinkbox Books

UK bookstore chain Waterstones has entered into exclusive talks to buy Tesco's Blinkbox Books service, reports the Financial Times. Waterstones CEO James Daunt said the company's existing e-books platform does not provide information on what people are reading and how they are reading. He added that Waterstones needed to sell e-books in a way that worked in a range of devices. "Blinkbox is a modern platform that delivers books through an app, so that you can read them on any device that you wish to, excluding of course a Kindle, which is a closed system."
