Wearables sales up 10.3% in Q2 as basic trackers post first decline – IDC

Global wearables shipments grew 10.3 percent year-on-year to 26.3 million in the second quarter on the back of strong demand for smartwatches, according to the latest study from IDC. In fact, the Apple Watch and Android Wear lineup grew 60.9 percent year on year in the quarter thanks to fitness and fashion enthusiasts, while shipments of basic wearables such as fitness trackers that don't run third-party apps declined for the first time with a 0.9 percent annual drop.
