Western Europe tops 100 mln pay-TV subscriptions

The Western European pay TV market is set to pass the milestone of 100 million subscriptions next month thanks to substantial increases in Italy, Spain and France, according to a report from Digital TV Research. The three countries will account for two-thirds of the region's net additions between 2016 and 2022, with Italian subscriptions rising by 1.47 million (20%), Spain by 1.36 million (23%) and France by 1.41 million (11%). However, subscriber growth will be lower than 3 percent for eight of the 18 countries covered in the report. In total, the region will gain nearly 7 million more
