Western European pay-TV subs to pass 100 mln next year

Western Europe's pay-TV markets are successfully seeing off the challenge posed by OTT video and the region's free-to-air TV offerings, with subscriber numbers set to break through the 100 million barrier in 2017, according to a report from Ovum. The pay-TV subscriber base stood at around 98 million at the end of the second quarter of 2016 and is forecast to rise by around 7 million to 105 million by the end of 2021.
