White House plans no action on net neutrality petition

Obama administration officials announced that the president is still in support of a free and open internet but that he does not have the authority to demand that the Federal Communications Commission reclassify broadband service as a utility that is subject to the same rules and rate regulation as local telephone service, reported The New York Times.
