Wikipedia starts developing text-to-speech service

Swedish postal and telecoms regulator PTS said it is providing SEK 2.8 million from March 2016 to September 2017 for a project with Wikimedia Sverige to make Wikipedia more accessible for users who have difficulty in reading text on the encyclopaedia's website. The money will be used to finance synthetic speech.
