Wind Hellas to launch multiscreen TV service by year-end

Tuesday 21 February 2017 | 12:35 CET | News
Greek operator Wind Hellas has announced plans to launch its own TV service by the end of this year. The company has contracted Zappware to help develop the multi-screen service. Wind is the last of the major broadband providers in Greece to introduce its own TV service.

The company is using the NeXX 4.0 video platform from Zappware to develop a "simple, fun and personalised" TV service, for customers to use on any device. The Zappware platform includes video head-end infrastructure, cloud-based backend including the personalization capabilities, and the front-end client software for Android set-top-boxes, smartphones, tablets and web browsers.

The whole video-chain is provided and managed by Zappware. The features will include linear and catch-up TV, network recording and a rich VoD catalogue. Along with the cloud-based back-end, the Android set-top-box platform offers flexibility to integrate third-party content and applications for end-users, the vendor said.
