Wind Telecom to invest DOP 1.1 bln in LTE deployment

Dominican Republic operator Wind Telecom has announced it has almost completed a capitalization process of around DOP 1.1 billion (approximately USD 27 million), local newspaper Listin Diario reports. Wind will use these funds to deploy a TD-LTE network in the 2.5-2.7 GHz frequency band, as well as expand its fiber-optic access network. In connection to the capitalization process, the International Airport of Cibao, now an investor in WindTelecom, will select a representative to join the Wind board of directors.
