Windows 8 will not dramatically increase DRAM shipments

The roll-out of Windows 8 is not expected to generate a significant rise in quarterly DRAM shipments, as the debut of new PC operating systems from Microsoft has done in the past, according to a new report from IHS iSuppli. Global DRAM shipments are expected to increase by 8 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the third, and this lower growth number includes DRAM for PCs, smartphones and tablets.
