World Bank, IDB to support telecoms development in Haiti, DR

The World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will promote the software industry in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as support the deployment of a landing point of a submarine cable with open access for Haiti, and of terrestrial fibre-optic connections between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. These areas of action aim to achieve greater connectivity between the two neighboring nations. Experts from IDB and the World Bank also propose the establishment in both countries of a high-capillarity fibre-optic backbone, and the creation of a public virtual network to connect
