Xiaomi to expand to Singapore, targets doubling in sales

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has announced plans to expand its sales to Singapore and confirmed a target to double unit sales this year. Hugh Barra, the former Google executive who joined Xiaomi last October, said in a blog posting that it's "official — Xiaomi is coming to Singapore", the Wall Street Journal reports. More details will be announced soon, Barra said. In recent months, Xiaomi has started selling phones in Hong Kong and Taiwan, setting up dedicated websites to sell smartphones in both markets outside mainland China.
