Yandex launches mobile browser
Russian internet search engine Yandex has launched versions of its Yandex.Browser for the Apple iPad and Android smartphones. The mobile browser offers new functions such as direct access to web pages after a search request, bypassing the list of results. The mobile browser also supports voice search, and the Tablo feature provides quick access to favourite and frequently visited sites. It also comes with a Turbo mode, which quickly loads websites even when the network connection is slow. Webpages load faster thanks to cloud-based data compression technology. Versions for Android tablets and the iPhone are planned to launch in the autumn.

Yandex launches browser for Android tablets

Russian internet search engine Yandex has launched the Yandex.Browser for Android tablets, reports Digit.ru. The company has already seen its mobile browser app for smartphones downloaded over 1 million times on Google Play. The new tablet version of the application includes synchronisation with all the user's devices. Yandex also offers a browser for Apple's iPad, which has been downloaded over 450,000 times since June.

Russian internet search engine Yandex is offering users additional space in its cloud storage service, Yandex.Disk offers additional cloud space in three sizes, for one month or a full year. A 10 GB package costs USD 1 for a month or USD 10 for a year, while 100 GB can be purchased for USD 5 or USD 50 and 1 TB for USD 30 or USD 300, respectively. Yandex raises FY outlook as Q2 sales grow 35%

Russian search engine Yandex reported second-quarter revenues up 35 percent from a year earlier to RUB 9.2 billion (USD 281.2 million). Excluding traffic acquisition costs, sales rose 37 percent year-on-year. Operating profit increased 43 percent to RUBD 3.2 billion, and net profit was up 47 percent to RUB 2.9 billion. Yandex co-founder Ilya Segalovich passes away

Russian internet search engine Yandex has confirmed the sudden death of co-founder and chief technology officer Ilya Segalovich. Segalovich had been responding well to cancer treatment, before unexpectedly having complications. Segalovich co-founded Yandex more than twenty years ago, serving as its CTO and an executive director since 2000. He also co-founded and supported Maria's Children Art Rehabilitation Center for orphans and children with special needs.
