Yoigo drops interest in Orange/Jazztel assets

Yoigo has told Orange that it's not interested in acquiring fixed assets from the company, as required under the regulatory conditions of Orange's merger with Jazztel. The reason is 95 percent of the assets for sale use DSL, while only 5 percent are fibre. Yoigo had earlier showed interest in the Orange/Jazztel assets as a way of boosting it s ability to offer convergent, fixed-mobile plans. A spokesman for Yoigo told news agency Efe that it had withdrawn its interest as the DSL technology will soon be "obsolete" and does not guarantee the operator's ability to offer competitive, congvergent
