YouTube ordered to pay EUR 150,000 in French copyright case

YouTube has been ordered by a Paris court to pay EUR 150,000 of damages to French audiovisual institute INA for continuing to host videos after INA requested their withdrawal, Le Monde reports. INA found some 3,000 contentious videos on YouTube in May and April 2006 and launched the case at the end of that year, asking YouTube to put a fingerprinting system in place for content posted without its prior approval.
