Zambian cabinet approves daily ZMK 0.30 tax on internet calls

Zambia expects to raise USD 22 million annually from a new tax on internet phone calls, reports the EastAfrican. The cabinet approved a ZMK 0.30 daily tariff to charged on online phone calls, it said. Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba said the government considered concerns raised by telecom operators and there was "a quick realisation" that there is a "huge revenue loss" that comes with internet calls.
