Two US wireless carriers selected Zayo Group to add wireless capacity in Houston for the Super Bowl 51 game. Zayo completed the installation of more than 120 small cell sites, including locations around key venues like NRG Stadium and Discovery Green Park, to help the carriers face increased demand. Thanks in part to the deployments, fans at Super Bowl 51 were able to share messages, photos and videos over their mobile phones.

The sites are part of larger projects to add more than 700 sites throughout the Houston metropolitan area. The Super Bowl and the associated events drew more than 1 million people to Houston over a 10-day period, which approximately doubled wireless demand in the city. Wireless traffic ramped all week and spiked during the game.
