Zimbabwe acquires 51% stake in Portnet

Zimbabwean government-owned ISP Zarnet has acquired a controlling 51 percent stake in fellow ICT provider Portnet, according to a press statement released in The Herald. The acquisition will gives the government and parastatals and state enterprises an alternative local provider of Systems, Applications and Products (SAPs). Zarnet and Portnet said the acquisition provides solution to potential risks noted by ICT Minister Supa Mandiwandira on sensitive State information.
