Zimbabwean mobile subscribers down 7% in Q2

The number of active mobile telephone subscriptions declined 6.7 percent to 12.8 million in the second quarter ended 30 June from 13.7 million in Q1, according to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). The mobile penetration rate fell to 87.8 percent from 94.2 percent in the first quarter to March. Active fixed telephone lines slipped by 0.2 percent to 260,542 from 260 959 and the fixed tele-density remained at 1.8 percent.
