Zimbabwean National Broadband Plan needs USD 123 mln for fibre cables

The Zimbabwean government requires USD 123 million to invest in optical fibre to extend the backbone network to every district in the country, ThisDay reported. So says a consultation paper on the Zimbabwe National Broadband Plan developed by the ICT ministry in partnership with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz). The plan targets 100 percent broadband coverage at not less than 1 Mbps everywhere that people live, work, travel and study by 2030.
