Zimbabwe's active mobile phone subscriptions fall nearly 2% in Q1

Active mobile phone subscriptions decreased by 1.7 percent to 13.0 million in the first quarter of 2021 from 13.2 million in the previous quarter, according to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz). Themobile penetration rate declined by to 87.8 percent from 90.5 percent in Q4 2020. Active subscriptions have been subject to seasonal fluctuations over the past year as the Covid-19 pandemic affects demand and consumer behaviour, Potraz said.
