Welcome to the Telecompaper Mobile MVNO/SP List. This is a fairly comprehensive listing of MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) and mobile SPs in the world today, as well as relevant news. Where possible, the defunct or purchased entities are listed as well. MVNEs are listed by country after MVNO/SPs. See below for general MVNEs, a news archive, some MVNO resources, etc.

A business mobile and telecommunications MVNO
Age UK is a branded reseller enabled by CyCell, a specialist MVNO, using Cognatel & Vodafone's network. Age UK works together with Ownfone and both phones and mobile subscription have to be taken out on the Ownfone website. The phone has name buttons so calling is very easy. The phones + contracts are escpecially designed for elderly.

Allpay Mobile started as an MVNO in June 2013. It is using Cognatel as its MVNA for the housing associations residents. Allpay Mobile has a partnership with MVNO ET Telecom.

(IT) New MVNO from December 2010 (IT) BT Italia, the Italian subsidiary of British Telecom, has decided to move from MVNO to full MVNO.
In addition, the operator has changed its network partner from Vodafone to Telecom Italia. The agreement with the Italian operator's mobile unit TIM was signed back in August, but the changeover will take place in 2014

The Mundio group, which operates the Vectone Mobile MVNO brand in several countries, launched a second mobile brand in the Netherlands, called Delight Mobile. The new brand was first launched in the UK in summer 2011, and since then has expanded to Sweden and Austria.
Offers charity organisations the ability to set up their own branded mobile network, through which they can raise money for their charity. Only charity launched was Wildlife Mobile, which ceased activities in May 2015 so unclear if Digital Spring is still active

Additional brand of Lycamobile. In january 2014 Lycamobile announced to stop GT Mobile's services in the Netherlands. All GT Mobile customers were transferred to Lycamobile.
UK phone, electronics and electricals retailer Dixons Carphone launched its MVNO under the iD brand in May 2015 over the 3 UK network.

The iVittamobile SIM Card is a global roaming SIM with affordable calls and SMS worldwide exclusively available to Seafarers. The first edition of the SIM launched in February 2011. This product is sold in over 60 ports worldwide, via Seamen's Mission's and Seafarer's charities.
Janet 3G is a service designed to give academic and support staff network access on the move. The service is provided by aql on behalf of Janet.
The Lebara Group is a telecommunications company providing services in many European countries (currently Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany and UK) including Australia using the mobile virtual network operator business model. Lebara Mobile provides Pay As You Go mobile SIM cards, targeted towards the needs of international communities and migrant workers.
Lebara stopped its activities in Belgium in 2007 and Norway business was sold to Network Norway (now part of Tele2 Norway), Swiss operation was sold to Sunrise Communications (july 2013), while Poland was closed in March 2015.
End of 2014 it launched services in Saudi Arabia.
In Oct 2014 EE bought mvno Life Mobile, after its parent company Phones4U went into administration
MD is Neil Morgan, who previously worked for Nomi Mobile (now defunct). Directors are Nigerian investors amongst others Cyprian Ojum and Godwin Victor.
Lycamobile offers prepaid SIM cards with reduced international calling rates, focusing on users who normally use calling cards to phone abroad. The comapny has set up MVNOs in the following countries: UK, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Australia, Denmark, France, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Italy and recently US (March 2013) and Austria (November 2013).

Launched by Nowtel Group. Started to offer handsets in April 14.
Special phones only capable of voice communication, via preprogammed numbers. Also recently launched a Braille phone. OwnFone was invented by Tom Sunderland. Uses charities such as Age UK, Diabetes UK, Stroke Association as its sales channels.
In April 2015 the Group established its own Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) called Personal Group Mobile Ltd. This was achieved through the acquisition of the assets of shebang Technologies Ltd and in addition to handsets can provide airtime via salary sacrifice which offers an overall 32-47% reduction on mobile phone costs to its client’s employees. The MVNO operates under the Home Technology section, using the let's-connect website.

FMC service, allowing a mobile phone to work as a business phone. Can be used by resellers as a white label product
PLDT Global Corporation decided to expand its global reach to cater to more Filipinos worldwide. In December 2012, PLDT together with MVNE Teleena launched an MVNO in the UK under the brand name Smart Pinoy.
UK utility Scottish Southern Energy (SSE) plans to launch an MVNO on the O2 networks. Sources said it planned to offer discounted pre-paid and contract deals on a range of handsets, cross-selling to its customer base of which 200,000 already take fixed-line and broadband services.

Tesco Mobile teamed up with O2
Phone Co-op provides telephone and internet services, including web hosting and broadband to private customers, businesses and charities.
UK Globetel Limited (UK Globetel) is a mobile virtual network operator engaged in providing mobile telecommunications services in the United Kingdom. UK Globetel's services are geared towards the Filipino community in, as well as the Filipino visitors to, the United Kingdom. Uses MVNO aggregator Transatel, using the EE network.

Vectone Mobile is a pre-pay service offering low call rates for local, national, and international calls, plus savings on SMS and roaming. Vectone Mobile is part of the Vectone Group of companies, owned by the Mundio Group
Virgin Mobile is a wireless communications brand used by eight independent brand licensees worldwide. Virgin Mobile branded wireless communications services are currently available in Australia, Canada, Chile, France, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. Each Virgin Mobile branded entity acts independently from the others, thus the handsets, service plans and network radio interfaces vary from country to country. In a given country, the Virgin Mobile wireless entity is typically a partnership between Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group and an existing mobile network operator or mobile virtual network operator.
