Swiss telecom and cable operators have agreed on standards for FTTH networks after four roundtable meetings managed by the Swiss federal telecommunications office Bakom. The roundtable meetings started in autumn 2008 after a difference in business models at utilities provider EWZ and Swisscom seemed to be leading to a doubling of infrastructure deployment. The FTTH standards agreement was preceded by several FTTH deals between Swisscom or Orange Switzerland and local utilities, and this research brief offers an overview of these developments.
