Update of Dutch telecom retail market

The Dutch telecom retail landscape has not changed significantly from last year's research. The expected reduction in number of shops has not materialised. Shops are still an important part of the operators' brand building and customer service offering. The main telecom retailer chains also have not seen a reduced demand by the general public, judged by the slight increase in their stores. Several retailers, especially the operator stores, have focused on refurbishing their outlets. The Belcompany aims to grow its market share, while the Phone House and T for Telecom are focusing on offering new services. T for Telecom had its head office relocated by parent company Dexcom. Independent retailers are an important sales channel for mobile phones in the Netherlands. Although the competition in the retail market remains intense, it seems to have stabilised in the past year.
