Google to invest USD 500 mln in Dominican Republic digital exchange hub

Google has announced plans to invest USD 500 million in building submarine cables and a digital exchange port in the Dominican Republic to boost connectivity with the United States and reinforce the Caribbean nation's role as a regional technology hub. The project, set to break ground in March and begin operations next year, aims to establish an open and neutral infrastructure capable of hosting four new international submarine cables, said the government and the US company in a joint statement.

Second-hand phone ownership has remained broadly stable in France at 22 percent, reports BFM RMC citing the 2026 edition of the annual survey carried out by Kantar for device reconditioning specialist Recommerce. The proportion of respondents who have ever owned a second-hand phone has risen closer to the 50 percent mark, compared with 45 percent in January 2025. This rate now stands at 68 percent among those in the 15-18 age group, driven by parents' propensity to buy second-hand phones for children.

Kosovo's telecom industry saw a 7 percent increase in revenues year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, reaching EUR 47.9 million. This represented a 14.2 percent drop from the previous quarter, according to the Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (Arkep).
