Website Changes

31 August 2008

We have changed the way that you log in to the Telecompaper website. You no longer need to remember your old username, you can log into our site directly using your e-mail address – and your password remains the same. You will also notice several changes to the my account section of the website. From there you can:

  • Subscribe to / unsubscribe from the feeds to which you have access;
  • View your feeds online if the feed is not distributed via e-mail attachment;
  • View and download the research to which you have access;
  • See your access to the Telecompaper website and when your subscription ends;
  • Keep your profile updated, for example if you change e-mail addresses;
  • See a list of your ten most recently read items.

You may also have noticed that we recently added Social Bookmarking support to our website so you can share our content with your online communities.

The Telecompaper website has a new search engine. It is now possible to search all of the different content types, including: news, opinion pieces, long articles, research reports, research briefs, company profiles, advisory services, and analysis. It is also possible to search across multiple years and filter based upon countries, editions, topics and language. Best of all, the search is faster, so we invite you to experience the new Telecompaper search to quickly find the Telecoms information you are after.

Several of our quick-lists from the right-side column – for example "latest news", "top stories", and "latest research" – have been converted into tabbed boxes. Can’t find the quick-list you are looking for? Click on the tabs at the top of a tabbed box to uncover the different lists.

Our advisory services page now has detailed information about the different advisory services we are providing. More content will be added here over time so check back often.

Finally, this update has seen the inclusion of social bookmarking links to our article pages, together with an improved page layout. If you are a member of the Del.icio.us, Digg, Yahoo My Web, Facebook, Mixx or Newsvine communities, adding a Telecompaper news item is now just a click away.

With the most recent update we have added a calendar of important dates to our website. You will notice the tabbed box of research releases, selected events, financial figures and analyst meetings in the right-side column of the site. The dates can be viewed for the current week or the following week by changing tabs.

The calendar functionality has been further expanded to allow you to view important dates across a two month period, filtered by the type of date you are interested in.

17 April 2008

There have been several new changes to our website in the most recent upgrade.

We have introduced a page where you can view the personal profiles of our research team.

We have introduced a new system of coding for our content. When you view the details page of our reports, briefs or profiles you will see a list of topics covered by that research. By clicking on a topic link you can view a subset of our research that pertains directly to your topic of interest. It is also possible to view a subset of our research based upon your geographic scope of interest, and research conducted by individual members of our research team.

Our site has also been turbocharged with the power of AJAX – meaning that the information you want will be presented faster. When selecting options from our dropdown menu filters, you may notice a “loading” indicator in the top right corner of your screen. This means our server is working on your request, faster than it would be possible for a full page refresh.

18 February 2008

It is now possible to view the list of our Dutch language opinion pieces here, and to view the list of our online Telecom Review and Newsbrief Breedband articles.

11 February 2008

Our previous website dated back to October 2006 and, given the steady increase in traffic and visitors, it was time to improve our site. In 2007 traffic to telecompaper.com increased by almost 70%, and the number of unique visitors increased by a steady 6.5% per month.

In addition to the new look and feel of the site, we have already introduced the following enhancements:

  • Tab-based access to make the site more transparent, whether you are checking the daily news update or you are looking at our independent research section.
  • Colour coding to help you identify and find the content you want.
  • Personal page preferences which enable you to set a font size and screen width to suit your tastes. By selecting your preference in the top right corner of the screen the layout of our site will adjust to best fit your screen width.
  • A separate Dutch section where Dutch speakers will find our wide range of Dutch language products and services.

The new Dutch section is where we provide independent coverage of the Dutch Telecoms market, and will give our clients access to our Dutch content and Dutch journals: Nieuwsbrief Breedband and Telecom Review. At the end of this quarter we will add all of the stories and articles from these publications for subscribers to access online.

Our News section still contains all the international news coverage you have come to expect from Telecompaper's experienced team of editors, based in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Kenya, India, Romania, South America and the Netherlands. Our most important stories are still accessible without a subscription, and you will still find them indexed by edition: Mobile, Fixed or Broadband.

In our Research section you will find the reports we have written and the type of research we do. This section has not yet been filled with our full portfolio, but we will add additional content in the next few weeks.

To underline our independent role in the research we conduct, you will not find commercial banners in our Research section, except for those belonging to Telecompaper.

We hope you like the new design and welcome your feedback to help us improve our site even further. In the coming weeks we will add even more new features to the website, making it even easier for you to read, search, and customize telecompaper.com.
