The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) received 14,002 complaints during the January to March 2026 quarter, broadly unchanged from the previous quarter, but reported increases in complaints related to mobile services, financial hardship and compensation for financial losses. According to the TIO's Quarter 3 Complaints Report, complaints involving financial loss rose 32.7 percent quarter-on-quarter to 739 cases, while financial hardship complaints increased 25.3 percent to 505. T-Mobile Poland reaches 12,755 base stations in operation

T-Mobile Poland said it currently runs 12,755 base stations nationwide, including 5,025 5G base stations working on the C band. It said seven 5G base stations had been deployed in the past week and 43 5G base stations were launched in May. The operator has 753 5G base stations working on the 700 MHz band.

NAO publishes report on how Ofcom protects vulnerable customers

The UK's National Audit Office (NAO) has published a new report looking at the work done by broadband, water and energy companies to protect vulnerable customers. The report shows that consumer satisfaction for financially-vulnerable broadband customers as 4 percentage points below that of overall broadband customers in 2024. It also shows low awareness of social tariffs, with only one third (34%) of broadband customers aware of these tariffs as of April 2026.

Play reaches 201 new base stations in first 5 months

Polish operator Play, controlled by Iliad, deployed 46 new base stations in May. The operator has deployed 201 new base stations since the beginning of this year. Play currently owns 13,376 base stations.

O2, Slovak Telekom lead porting gains in Q1

O2 Slovakia saw the most customers connect to its network in the first quarter of this year through number porting, according to figures collected by Zive.sk. It said O2 gained 2,815 telephone numbers via number portability. Slovak Telekom had a net gain of 1,525 telephone numbers in Q1. Orange Slovakia lost 2,351 telephone numbers through porting, and 4ka lost 1,974 numbers.

Lithuanian telecom watchdog extends roaming surcharge in EU for MVNO Teledema

Lithuanian national telecommunications regulator RRT has extended approval for the MVNO Teledema, working on the Bite Lithuania network, to apply an EU roaming surcharge. Teledema has been permitted to apply a EUR 0.001 per minute surcharge to both incoming and outgoing calls and a EUR 0.73 per 1 GB surcharge to mobile data services. The surcharge will not apply to SMS services.

WindTre sets up virtual job centres with AI avatars

WindTre has partnered with Arpal Puglia, the local agency for active labour policies, to roll out virtual employment centres across the southern Italian region. The programme introduces multi-channel digital platforms equipped with 3D avatars and audio-video systems to expand access to public employment services beyond traditional physical offices.

Beeline Russia offers Bee subscribers access to absent foreign services including Spotify and Netflix

Russian operator Beeline has begun offering subscribers of its Bee service access to certain foreign services that do not currently operate in the country. The list includes Spotify, Netflix, Ticketmaster and Brawl Stars among others. They are available by default without any additional payments.

Estonian operator Elisa has announced plans to close its Elisa Fix service centre in the town of Haapsalu on 10 July. The decision was taken because of a decline in customers flow as customers more frequently choose remote channels for service.

Megafon Tajikistan offers fixed B2B services nationwide

Megafon Tajikistan has announced that it now offers fixed broadband services to business customers in almost every part of the country. It only provides B2C fixed broadband in the city of Dushanbe. Megafon Tajikistan is able to deploy last mile networks within five days, with services available at up to 500 Mbps.

Russian national operator Rostelecom said that it has launched its AI Scaling Centre. This open consortium specialises in infrastructure, technology, know-how and marketing  for industrial implementation of AI services in key segments of the Russian economy. The Skolkovo Foundation and other companies have already joined the consortium.

Tajikistan builds IT-Hub

Tajikistan has started construction of the IT-Hub Dushanbe complex in the capital's Ismoili Somoni district to develop digital infrastructure and support innovation, chairman of the National Assembly of Tajikistan's Supreme Assembly and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali wrote on social media, Trend reports. It said the IT-Hub Dushanbe complex will include an IT school, IT Park, an information technology business centre and a Regional Artificial Intelligence Centre.

Beeline Uzbekistan offers free smartphone when switching to Oila tariff line

Veon group subsidiary Beeline Uzbekistan has started a promotion for its Oila Ultra+ or Oila Mega+ tariff plans. Customers switching to one of the two plans and taking out an annual contract are being offered free smartphones. The promotion is valid in the city and region of Tashkent.
