Princeton Digital Group secures 240 MW site in Indonesia

Singapore-based data centre developer and operator Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has acquired a new site in Greater Jakarta to develop a hyperscale data centre campus, increasing its total capacity in Indonesia to 400 MW. The new campus, designated JC4, is located in the Greenland International Industrial Center in Bekasi Regency, approximately 1.7 kilometres from the company's existing JC3 facility. The proximity is intended to enable shared power and connectivity infrastructure between the two sites.

Applications have opened for a new funding round under the Australian government's Mobile Network Hardening Program, targeting upgrades to mobile infrastructure in the Perth Hills region. Qualcomm results turn lower in March quarter on smartphone market slowdown

Qualcomm reported lower underlying results for its fiscal second quarter to March, hurt by the slowdown in the smartphone market after the rise in prices. Revenues declined 3 percent year-on-year to USD 10.6 billion, and pretax profit fell 28 percent to USD 2.2 billion. The company's bottom line received a boost from a one-off valuation benefit on deferred tax assets of USD 5.7 billion, taking the net profit to USD 7.4 billion compared to USD 2.8 billion a year ago.

Samsung reports record Q1 results driven by AI memory demand

Samsung Electronics reported record quarterly revenue and operating profit for the first quarter of 2026, supported by strong demand for AI-related semiconductors and new flagship smartphone releases. The company posted consolidated revenue of KRW 133.9 trillion and operating profit of KRW 57.2 trillion for the three months ended 31 March, both representing all-time highs. Operating profit surged more than 750 percent year-on-year, with revenue up approximately 70 percent over the same period.

Thailand greenlights subsea cable landing for Google's TalayLink project

Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has approved a request to deploy a subsea cable landing for the TalayLink project. The TalayLink project international subsea cable initiative is led by Google Cloud. Its goal is to create a data highway connecting Thailand and Australia via the Indian Ocean. The landing in Thailand is managed by International Gateway Company (IGC), a subsidiary of ALT Telecom.

4iG Group International Digital Infrastructure (4iG IDI) and Greek operator Grid Telecom have agreed to explore strategic collaboration in wholesale telecommunications and cross-border digital infrastructure. 4iG and Grid Telecom plan to exchange specialized knowledge and best practices, as well as jointly develop and operate telecoms assets to enhance connectivity between Albania, Greece and beyond.

Mobile services account for 56% of telecoms, TV complaints in Canada

Canada's Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) accepted 19,157 complaints from consumers about mobile, internet, phone and TV services between 01 August 2025 and 31 January 2026. This is an increase of 61 percent from 11,909 complaints in the year-earlier mid-point. Mobile services accounted for 56 percent of all complaints in this reporting period; with billing remaining the top concern for telecoms and TV customers.

Visible launches new 5G home internet service

Verizon's digital-first mobile brand Visible has launched a new 5G home internet service, which can be set up in minutes without the need for a home technician visit. The new Visible Home Internet service costs from USD 30 per month, or USD 300 per year. For a limited time, new customers can pay USD 49.00 for their first two months of service and gateway, after which they will be charged USD 30 per month. Visible customers can get unlimited mobile and home internet together for USD 55 per month.

AT&T confirms return of Small Business Contest for 2026

AT&T has confirmed the return of the AT&T Small Business Contest for its fourth year, with applications for the 2026 competition open from 01 May-31 July. One winner will get the top prize of USD 50,000 to invest in their company, along with access to tools/resources for small businesses. Four finalists will also get USD 5,000 each to support their business.

Claranet Group posts record net profit of GBP 61.3 million for FY25

Claranet Group, UK-based global managed services provider, has reported record net profit of GBP 61.3 million for the year to 30 June 2025, boosted by profit of GBP 91.9 million from the sale of Claranet Portugal to NOS for EUR 153 million. This compares to a net loss of GBP 13.4 million for Claranet Group in FY24. Adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations for the 12 months was GBP 53.6 million, compared to GBP 57.6 million a year earlier.

RUSSIAN FEDERATION 29 APR

MCN Telecom revenues up 8% in 2025

Russian VoIP operator and cloud services provider MCN Telecom said that its revenues grew by 8 percent year-on-year in 2025, while the customer base was stable. The company did not report absolute figures. Revenues from the PBX service grew by 15 percent, and income from Telecom API services increased by around 30 percent.

Tele2 Lithuania to expand mobile coverage along Via Baltica motorway

Tele2 Lithuania has started work on the expansion of its mobile network along the Via Baltica motorway. The operator plans to expand the infrastructure and, in cooperation with partners in the Baltic States, to cover the whole motorway with LTE and 5G services. Tele2 Lithuania will deploy eight new base stations along the road under the project.

Vodafone Germany expands gigabit coverage to 73% of households

Vodafone Germany said it can provide giagbit-speed broadband to 73 percent of households in Germany, or a total of 29.7 million premises. This follows upgrades of its cable network and expansion of its FTTH coverage in the past year.
