MTS starts offering QR payments in Egypt

Russian operator MTS has expanded payments using its QR code system to Egypt. This method is available through the My MTS app using a local QR code. Payments can be made from the customer's mobile balance or accounts with Russian banks. The minimum payment sum is RUB 1,200 and the maximum is RUB 400,000.

Teleport deploys private 2G network for mining company

Russian company Teleport, belonging to the Nota Group, has completed test operations of a private 2G network deployed for the mining company Rosgeologia in the Republic of Sakha, reports Dprom.ru. The project is worth RUB 10 million. The project used 2G technology alongside a satellite link in a location lacking terrestrial infrastructure. Nota Group had previously deployed private 2G and LTE networks.

Russian operator Megafon has deployed a backbone line on the basis of compact 400G tranceivers, reports RBC. The solution enables to quadruple the capacity and to reduce construction costs significantly. Compact transceivers from Russian company Neoros have been used for this purpose. The new line has interconnected data centres of the operator in Moscow.

InterDigital and Amazon agree to resolve pending patent litigation

InterDigital said it has reached a patent licence agreement with Amazon, covering Amazon's services and devices, including Amazon Prime Video. The parties have agreed to resolve all pending litigation and will enter into binding arbitration to determine the final terms of the new agreement, InterDigital added. Snapchat introduces new privacy features for younger teens

Snap is rolling out new features for younger users of Snapchat aged 13-15 years. This will allow them to create, save and show Stories and short-form Spotlight videos on a dedicated profile only visible to mutually accepted friends. This means that content from uses in this age group will no longer be shared with non-friend users on Spotlight, with this new default setting providing a more private sharing experience for younger teens. Slovak Telekom changes Magio TV's German channel line-up

Slovak Telekom plans to modify the line-up of its pay-TV service Magio TV, reports Zive.sk. It operator will remove certain German channels but add new ones to the World premium package. From 16 June, Magio TV is discontinuing ORF 1, ORF 2, ZDF and ARD but will add the German channels Kabel Eins, Sixx and N24 Doku to the World package instead. World costs EUR 3.57 monthly.

London Tube on track for network-wide mobile coverage by end-2026

Transport for London (TfL) said the entire Tube network was on track to have mobile coverage by end-2026, with around 60 percent of underground Tube stations now having mobile coverage. Mobile 4G/5G coverage is now live on more parts of the Circle, Metropolitan and Bakerloo lines, including tunnels between stations. TfL is working with Boldyn Networks on the project.
