Omnicom and Google launch AI-powered ads system in Middle East

Omnicom Advertising and Google have launched an AI-powered advertising system, combining Google's ABCD framework with Omnicom's proprietary creative AI to evaluate and optimise advertising before it goes live. The system, already piloted with UAE telecom operator Du, marks the beginning of a broader rollout across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, with plans for global expansion.

Transtelecom launches L2 VPN services on Starlink

Kazakhstan operator Transtelecom (TTC), owned by the Freedom Holding Group, has launched L2 VPN service on the basis of Starlink satellite internet and terrestrial infrastructure from SpaceX. Up up 500 Mbps with support for corporate VPNs is available using the solution.  TTC claims it is the first operator in Central Asia offering such a service.

LMT Group revenues up 14% in Q1

Revenues of Latvia's LMT Group totaled EUR 83.1 million in the first quarter of this year, up by 13.5 percent year-on-year. EBITDA grew to EUR 22.8 million in the three months. This growth was driven by the steady increase in the number of customer connections, to over 1.53 million, as well as the targeted introduction of new, export-focused products, LMT said. The capital expenditure of the group was EUR 6.2 million.

The Polish government has signed the first cybersecurity contracts with 12 water companies, working in the Kuyavia and Pomerania regions, providing PLN 9.5 million in public support for security upgrade projects. The projects will be subsidised by the National Recovery and Resilience Programme. The total funding allocated in the Kuyavia and Pomerania regions is almost PLN 33 million, out of a national programme on cybersecurity at water companies worth over PLN 613 million.

T-Mobile Poland had the fastest fixed broadband services in the country in the first quarter of this year, with downloads at 288.9 Mbps and uploads at 129.1 Mbps. Inea led by uploads (251.2 Mbps), followed by Netia (131.6 Mbps), T-Mobile and Plus (129.1 Mbps each).

Average DSL 100 Mbps price up 3.5% in two years in Netherlands

The cost of a 100 Mbps internet service in the Netherlands is not falling, despite new entrants in the market such as Hollandsnieuwe. The service costs an average EUR 41.58 per month over DSL and EUR 45.40 over FTTH in April, up by respectively 3.5 percent and 0.8 percent in the past two years, according to research by Telecompaper.

Allianz Direct has added smartphone cover in its home contents insurance for Dutch customers. This covers phones and other mobile devices against accidental damage and theft, both at home and anywhere in the Netherlands. Customers pay the first EUR 75 in damages and can receive compensation up to EUR 6,000 per claim. Damage incurred through normal or business use, or lost devices, are not covered.

Movistar Spain revamps second home fibre and 5G WiFi service

Movistar Spain (Telefonica) has refreshed its offer for existing MiMovistar convergent subscribers with second homes ahead of the summer season. Customers signed up to the MiMovistar Unlimited x2 and x4 plans can now switch on their connection on the days they need it for EUR 0.50 a day at speeds of up to 300 Mbps (maximum EUR 15 a month), EUR 0.67 at 600 Mbps (EUR 20 a month) or EUR 0.84 at 1 Gbps (EUR 25 a month). There is no minimum contract period and the service comes with a free Smart WiFi 6 router.

Polish railway carrier PKP Intercity announced a tender for VPN/MPLS data services as well as internet services in certain locations. The contract has an estimated value of around PLN 2.4 million and will run for four years, starting from 01 February 2028. Bids can be submitted until 15 May.

The Polish Police Headquarters announced a new tender on leased lines for WAN services. The estimated value of the contract is PLN 3.11 million, VAT excluded, and the duration is 24 months. The deadline for submitting bids is 27 May.

Bite Latvia to offer broadband at 1 Gbps to 43,000 households this year

Bite Latvia plans to upgrade its fibre-optic network for 43,000 households this year so they can receive broadband speed at up to 1 Gbps. The company said the investment in the development of fibre will amount to EUR 3 million. Bite Latvia also plans to deploy more than 50 kilometres of new fibre-optic lines.

Bouygues Telecom taps Eutelsat's OneWeb to deploy rapid response service for public safety network

French operator Bouygues Telecom has shared more details on the planned implementation of a rapid response protocol known as SRR (Solution de Reponse Rapide) within RRF (Reseau Radio du Futur), France's nationwide broadband network for first responders such as police forces and firefighters. The project has reached a new milestone with the delivery of new communications equipment to state agency Acmoss, which is responsible for the SRR contract.

RURA said Canalbox has been formally invited to a hearing to provide clarifications and outline immediate corrective actions.
