T-Mobile US announces new nationwide national parks initiative

T-Mobile US and the National Park Foundation (NPF) have partnered on a new nationwide 'Do Not Disturb Season' initiative to encourage Americans to silence everyday distractions and spend more time connecting in the country's national parks. The T-Mobile 5G network, supplemented by T-Satellite with Starlink connectivity, will keep customers connected throughout the national parks - giving customers the confidence to turn on 'Do Not Disturb' and explore nature.

Zen offers eero Business mesh WiFi to UK SMEs

UK ISP Zen Internet has partnered with Amazon-owned eero to boost its business connectivity offering with eero mesh WiFi. This will provide SME customers with easy access to high-speed, reliable mesh Wi-Fi across Zen's full-fibre network footprint. The launch comes as new research commissioned by Zen shows that UK small businesses have WiFi problems 13 times a month, resulting in them losing on average 11 hours each week.

Channel 4 registers over 20 billion streaming minutes in Q1

UK TV broadcaster Channel 4 registered over 20 billion streaming minutes in Q1 2026. This is up 22 percent from the year-earlier quarter, and its biggest ever Q1 streaming figure. Data from BARB shows that Channel 4 's 16-34 viewers streamed more than half (56%) of their overall Channel 4 viewing in Q1, rising to a new high of 61 percent of March 2026. This is the first percentage of all UK commercial broadcasters.

Global investment group Radius Global Infrastructure has appointed Julian Plumstead as its new CEO. He will take over as CEO from the retiring Scott G Bruce, who will remain with the company as a senior advisor. Plumstead has over 30 years of leadership experience in the finance and digital infrastructure sectors, most recently as head of M&A for ATC in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. He will be based in the UK, leading teams across all regions.

Vodafone study shows older adults struggle with digital tech

New pan-European research from the Vodafone Foundation shows that only 1 in 3 older adults aged 55+ are confident using new digital tools. The survey of 6,000 respondents across six markets (Ireland, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Romania and Czech Republic) shows that 91 percent of older people use digital devices daily, but more than two thirds (69%) have low confidence or worry about making mistakes. Furthermore, over half (55%) of this age group believe that digital technology is advancing too fast for them

Uzbek operator Mobiuz has introduced to customers its tariff Mobi Home, enabling to access fixed wireless services. The connection rate totals UZS 1.190 million. The payment enables to access unlimited data traffic for a year, the tariff also includes the router ZTE G5C, supporting the 5G technology.

Azerbaijan ICT revenues grow 9% in Q1

Azerbaijan's ICT market generated revenues of AZN 931.7 million in January to March this year, Report.az found in a study from the State Statistics Committee. The revenues were up by 9.2 percent year-on-year. This was driven by 20 percent annual growth in March to AZN 323.1 million in sales.

RDI checks Dutch mobile coverage in border areas

KPN, VodafoneZiggo and Odido have met their obligations for mobile coverage and minimum speeds in the latest checks by the digital infrastructure agency RDI. They must cover at least 98 percent of the territory of the Netherlands and deliver a minimum speed of 8 Mbps outdoors.

Transtelecom tests Starlink internet for gas stations

Kazakhstan operator Transtelecom launched a pilot project on providing satellite internet services from Starlink at gas stations run by Qazaq Oil and Gasenergy. Under the pilot, the services are available at a Qazaq Oil outlet in Akshatau and a Gasenergy site in Balkhash. Satellite internet is used for supporting internal processes at the gas stations.

Poland passes 8 mln households with broadband access

Just over 8 million households were covered with fixed internet services in Poland at the end of March, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Digitisation based on market data from the system SIDUSIS. That's up from 7.905 million households at the end of 2025. With 9.270 million households in total across the country, that means 1.269 million households were without sufficient broadband coverage still at the end of Q1 2026.

LMT's security system blocks over 2 mln spam calls in first 2 months

Latvian operator LMT said that its Call Firewall blocked more than 2.3 million spam calls within two months since the implementation of the common solution for preventing fraudulent calls by telecom operators. According to the data compiled by the company, a significant increase in activity was recorded at the end of March.

Ooredoo Oman wins award for best 5G gaming experience

Ooredoo Oman said it received the Speedtest Award from Ookla for the Best 5G Gaming Experience in Oman for Q3–Q4 2025. This recognition follows Ookla's analysis of consumer-initiated Speedtest results on 5G devices, evaluating performance metrics like latency and jitter against real-world game servers across all major local operators. Ookla evaluated more than 76,000 real-world Speedtest results from more than 15,000 users across Oman during the period.

Wroclaw university, OrbitsIQ Global, ESA improve satellite data transfer with new spectrum sharing research

Wroclaw University of Technology, the Luxembourg company OrbitsIQ Global and the European Space Agency announced a breakthrough in data transmission technology for satellite IoT sensors. The technology E-SSA (Enhanced Spread Spectrum Aloha) is expected to accelerate data transfer for the growing number of IoT devices on Earth, supporting many more simultaneous connections to satellites thanks to a new form of spectrum sharing.

Swiatlowod Inwestycje shareholders increase capital

Orange Poland and the fund APG, shareholders of the wholesale operator Swiatlowod Inwestycje, have increased the equity of the fibre network company. According to court filings on the change in articles of association, reported by Telko.in, the equity was increased from PLN 823.7 million to PLN 906.7 million. How the capital was issued was not disclosed.

Deutsche Telekom partners Thuga on AI solutions for municipal utilities

Deutsche Telekom has signed an agreement with Thuga, a consortium of around 100 German municipal utilities, for the use of  Business GPT solutions to automate business processes. Telia Estonia disconnects first-generation Arrise set-top boxes

Telia Estonia announced that its service Telia TV won't be available on the first-generation Arrise set-top boxes (VIP1113 and VIP1113 L) from 16 June. Customers can order newer models from Telia outlets or online. Customers without a supporting set-top box can access the service Telia TV online, as well as over the applications for Android and iOS devices.

Morocco and Gabon agree protocol to work on digital transformation

Morocco and Gabon have signed a bilateral agreement to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI), with the aim of developing new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries. This was highlighted during a working meeting held in Rabat between the Moroccan minister delegate in charge of digital transition and administrative reform and the Gabonese minister of digital economy, digitalization and innovation.

Elisa Estonia blocks 5.6 mln spam calls in Q1, more than in all of 2025

Estonian operator Elisa said that it blocked 5.6 million spam calls to its subscribers in the first quarter of this year. The number is just slightly higher than the number of blocked calls in the whole year 2025. All major Estonian operators use a common anti-spam solution.

US telco alliances urge progress on faster permits promised in ABDA bill

A dozen US telecom, internet and cable associations have called on the House of Representatives to expedite legislative proposals that would put a time limit on local permitting processes for broadband infrastructure, including small mobile masts and fixed internet concessions. The 2025 American Broadband Deployment Act (ABDA) is due to be voted on in the House having cleared examination by its Energy and Commerce Committee, which approved the bill in December 2025 by a narrow margin.

Rosenberger OSI announced it has deployed the passive IT infrastructure for the data centre opened by Avacon Group and Envia Tel in February in Sehnde, Lower Saxony. The companies used the PreConnect SMAP-G2 system enabling combined use of fibre-optic and copper cables.
